Pingrup 100 Year Centenary Est 1923

**Tickets are now available - tickets are essential and free of charge**

https://events.humanitix.com/pingrup-100

Pingrup is celebrating 100 years in 2023. The first settlers came to the area in 1911. The small community started building from then. The town came to life with the railway extension from Katanning, opening in October 1923 and then gazetted in early 1924. Come along and help us celebrate this great milestone.

We are always looking for more information about the past. See some of the projects below and send through any information that you may have.

Please contact us via email to be added to a mailing list.

Wedding Photos

We would love a copy of your wedding photos to print and put up on display. It doesn't need to be a Pingrup wedding, only that you were a resident. Please contact deborah.badger@icloud.com

Mapping Land Ownership

Do you know the history of the footprints that have blessed us in Pingrup? Do you have an old map with names and annotations in the back cupboard?

I am asking for anyone who holds knowledge of the area, no matter how small or broad to get in touch and help fill in the blanks and create a map of our history.

Please contact Zoey Grant-Williams by email: zoeygrantwilliams@gmail.com or phone 0427 579 949

Family Stories

All Pingrup residents, past and present, are invited to submit a short story about their family history.

The plan is to collect these family notes and it is envisaged these stories will be published on the Pingrup Community Resource Centre website after we celebrate our centennial in 2023 and as a booklet for sale.

The information we are after for each family story is the surname, what year the family first came to Pingrup, family member details, who was involved in the business, involvement in sport, the purchasing of any farm or business, shire councilor terms, president or secretary jobs, life membership, new land farming experience, biggest number of sheep, hectares of land, whether any family members are still there or, if not, what year your family left, and so on.

Please keep your story and photos to two or three pages and email the CRC. Keith Devenish has kindly offered his services to assist in writing and formatting the stories.

A template to record family details is available and stories can be emailed to
